The document also calls for “maximum restraint” in the Middle East and stresses dialogue and diplomacy as the means of resolving international disputes. The opening day also saw a series of major statements from BRICS leaders. Putin described the group as one of the main centers of global governance and called for international financial institutions to adapt to shifting economic realities.
