Chernobyl Residents and Horses Endure Russian Drone Attacks and Radiation

Russian drones have repeatedly targeted the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, striking farms and livestock while residents and their horses continue to live under the threat of contamination.

The drones have hit several settlements around the abandoned nuclear plant, damaging crops and killing livestock. Local farmers report that the attacks have left their fields barren and their animals—particularly horses—exposed to both the physical damage and the lingering radioactive fallout.

The incidents come as the region marks the 40th anniversary of the 1986 nuclear disaster, a reminder of the ongoing environmental and human toll in the area.
